A TRIP UP THE RIVER
Saturday the 12th of September was a busy day for the Scoot-a-long team as we started the day with a successful bag pack at the Co-op in Wolseley Road - so a big thank you to staff and customers there but that was not the end of it as in the evening we all mustered in best bib and tucker for a trip up the River Tamar on board the Silver Crest with the crew of Derrick and his father.
We all boarded at the Mayflower Steps and with the new boarding ramps it was easier for those of us either in a wheelchair or have difficulty walking. The weather was perfect for a night up the river with a calm wind and a red sunset looming and smooth water. We were then joined on board by our guests for the evening the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Jonathon Drean and his wife and duly set sale for our trip which was organised by Glynnis Bennett and Ian Brewster – who also provided a buffet which was first class.
The bar was open and the music playing and all seemed to be enjoying themselves but all to soon we were heading back to port but we still had the raffle to do so our guest duly drew the lucky ticket holder which was won by Mrs Diane Horne and she won a remote controlled yacht and then we did the raffle which was well supported and we took £54.00 so a good evening was had by all and by 10.30, or 22.30hrs, (whichever you prefer) we had docked back at the Mayflower Steps and disembarked after a very enjoyable evening.
Thanks to the deputy Lord Mayer and his wife for Joining us and supporting our charity.
We shall be doing another trip and they are not expensive so if you see it advertised why not join us and have a good, sociable evening. Tickets are always limited and are always on a first-come, first-served basis. We would love to see any of you there disabled or otherwise so keep looking at this space.
