Camel Trail Ramble on Wednesday 12 August 2009

We (the Cornwall Rolling Ramblers) met Scoot-A-Long at the Borough Arms, Dunmere (near Bodmin) to ramble the Camel Trail from there to Wadebridge and back. Scoot-A-Long gave out scooters to those who needed them for a minimal fee.
Then six ramblers set off from Dunmere, under bright skies. There were cyclists and walkers along the trail, which is the route of the old railway track. This part of the trail is flat and rural,  and keeps quite close to the Camel River. We passed by the Camel Valley Vineyards on our right, but didn’t stop to sample their wares.

When we arrived at Wadebridge we stopped at the John Betjeman Centre (one of our members – not on this ramble – is a trustee). There we had lunch, with tea, coffee and tea cakes provided. Steve and I shared the leadership of this ramble, and soon we were back at the Scoot-A-Long caravan at the Borough Arms again. Hot pasties were given out by the two-man crew. Our thanks to them, and we ourselves felt proud at completing a ramble of 11.5 miles!

If you would like to join us on one of these trips, read the information and download the forms here: Scooter Hire. We would be delighted to have you along to enjoy a good day out with us!
